Lifestory is something I have been dreaming of for nearly four years. The concept came to me during my son’s very first summer. We were in the new depths of 2020 and we were spending all of our time together at home watching every early sunrise and each golden sunset. Sometimes we’d be peering through the window at them, and other times letting them wash over us with our backs against the grass. It’s really all we had to do aside from checking the latest headlines, and I was grateful for those moments together. It was a bittersweet time because I knew these moments would be slipping away faster than I could grasp at them. I’d watch the sun shoot through the trees and wonder what was going to happen. 

 

I only managed to film these moments of my family a handful of times. But those few times got me thinking about how I must not be the only one wishing I could somehow keep these perfect little pockets of time. But how? I felt frustrated and frozen with nothing but ideas and no real way to make it happen - yet. So while I waited, I spent the hours at night rocking my babies and thinking up all the ways I could help myself and other families remember these fleeting seasons of our lives. Maybe some of these moments right now feel mundane, exhausting, or even like nothing is happening at all when you’re in them, but wouldn’t you love to look back at these moments through a golden glowing lens once they have vanished? I know I would. I really would.

 

All of this to say, I made it through the haze of a heavy world and to my sunlight at the end of the tunnel that was early motherhood with a perfect son, a beautiful daughter, my loving husband, a new appreciation for life, and my big idea of lifestory waiting to be shouted from the same tree tops that I watched the sun shine through just years ago.
